Greene Fire Department Delivering Takeouts Friday for Fire Prevention Week

10/12/2017 - The Greene Fire Department is celebrating Fire Prevention Week on Friday by making special deliveries. All this week local fire departments have stopped by elementary schools or opened their facility doors to showcase what volunteer fire departments have for equipment and provide some safety tips. Greene Fire Chief Neil Nordmeyer tells Radio On The Go News the department is going beyond an open house by visiting visiting the residents instead.

Nordmeyer says delivering meals to residents has become an annual tradition for the Greene Fire Department.

The Greene Fire Department will deliver carry-out meals from the Freeze Frame Bowl Friday night free of charge. You can make a donation toward the Fire Department but it is not required. Nordmeyer says it’s an exciting time for his department with construction ongoing for the new fire hall.

The $700,000 cost for the building was split between the city putting in $400,000, a $100,000 private donation and $200,000 came from the rural fire association.
