H-D Volleyball Faces C-G-D Thursday Six Days Before 1st Round Regional Match

10/12/2017 - Six days before going head to head in the first round of Class 3A regionals, Clarion Goldfield Dows and Hampton Dumont volleyball teams play the final regular season North Central Conference match. The Bulldogs won a thrilling 5 set match in Clarion last year, winning each set by the minimum 2 points. C-G-D has remained close to the top of the conference standings this year and would finish tied for 2nd with a win Thursday. The Cowgirls were close to winning the conference, pushing IFA to 5 sets last week. Head Coach Katrina Terhark scouted the Bulldogs a few weeks back and saw a lot of grit and hustle.

The 25-8 C-G-D Cowgirls swept Garner/Hayfield/Ventura Tuesday night, dropping 36 kills in three sets. Meanwhile, the 12-15 Hampton Dumont Bulldogs traveled to Lake Mills for a quad Tuesday night, beating North Butler and Nashua Plainfield but losing to the hosting Bulldogs. H-D also had quite the competition Saturday in the home tournament. The Dawgs went 1-3, two of those losses were to top rated 1A Janesville and #2 Kuemper Catholic in 3A. H-D head coach Kelli Showalter says Thursday conference match is a great opportunity to plan for next week’s regional.

The Hampton Dumont Bulldogs and Clarion Goldfield Dows Cowgirls meet up in North Central Conference play Thursday night. The volleyball match airs live on KLMJ 104.9FM and on the KLMJ Stream at RadioOnTheGo.com starting at 7:20 and first serve is 7:30.
