10/12/2017 - The Clarion-Goldfield-Dows Cowgirls made their last North Central Conference road trip for 2017 on Thursday evening and were hosted by the Hampton-Dumont Bulldogs. The first set had both teams feeling out the game and staying within two points of each other until H-D took the 12-9 lead. After being tied at for the sixth time at 21-all, the Bulldogs finished the first set, 25-22. Hampton-Dumont kept the Cowgirls at arm's length to start the second set but C-G-D rolled off a 14-6 run and won 25-17. The third included 14 ties on the Cowgirls way to a 25-23 win. That momentum continued into the fourth and final set as C-G-D ends their regular season record to 26-8 while going 5-2 in the conference. Haley Nerem had a team high 23 kills with Morgan Middleton right behind with 21 kills. They were set up from Senior McKenna Kruger.
The Bulldogs had a team high 10 kills from Makayla Seavers and nine kills from Jennie Barkema. Hampton-Dumont, now 12-16 and 2-5 in the NCC, will have a tournament to attend in Winterset on Saturday before the Cowgirls host H-D in the first match of Class 3A regionals on Wednesday.
