IGHSAU Executive Director Jean Berger announces retirement

Jean Berger, who has served as the Executive Director of the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union since 2016, has announced her retirement, the organization announced this week.

Berger was the fifth executive director in the nearly 100-year history of the IGHSAU. According to a statement released by the IGHSAU, Berger retires after a tenure marked by dedication, innovation, and substantial progress, and she distinguished herself as a visionary leader dedicated to enhancing opportunities for young female athletes across Iowa. Berger was the first female to hold the position.

The search for the next executive director has begun, and the IGHSAU is partnering with Grundmeyer Leader Services to conduct the search.
