Two AGWSR spring sports teams will be in action Thursday.

The boys track & field team will begin its outdoor season 48 hours later than originally scheduled due to the cancellation of Tuesday’s meet at East Marshall. The Cougars will be at a boys meet hosted by BCLUW. Head Coach Bill Heubner says seniors Aiden Heitland in the throws and Kaden Abbas in the 110-meter hurdles are likely to stand out.

“The kids we have have been with me for four years, they understand how we’re going to do things,” Heubner says. “They understand the expectations we have. So I’m excited about that. Aiden Heitland qualified in both the throw events for state last year and is just a great leader for us. We’ve got Kaden Abbas, who’s going to be one of the top high hurdlers in 1A this year. Excited for those guys. It’s always good when you have a nice nucleus of seniors to build on during the track season. And then we’ve got good distribution in the other classes of our kids. So it’s a nice roster make up. I think we’ve got some talented kids. We just have to try to get things in the right places.”

The meet will begin at 4:15 p.m.

The girls golf team will host a best ball scrimmage with Hampton-Dumont-CAL at the Ackley Country Club. It’ll be the first meet of the season for both teams. Gabrielle Kruger of AGWSR and Madison Lindaman of Hampton-Dumont-CAL are the top returning golfers. The meet will begin at 3:45 p.m.
