A Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Deputy resigned today after he was alleged to have posted an accident scene photo online using Snapchat.
Russ Jensen was alleged to have posted a photo from a motorcycle versus deer accident in Plymouth that killed 22-year-old Allan Shafer of Mason City. The accident took place this past Sunday.
Cerro Gordo County Sheriff Kevin Pals says his office initiated an investigation Thursday into an alleged posting of an accident scene photo that was sent out to members of the public by a deputy sheriff. That deputy sheriff resigned his position effective today.
There has been an online petition asking the Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Office to fire Jensen following the post.
As of Thursday night, over 3-thousand people had signed the petition.
