The Dike-New Hartford girls track & field team placed fifth at Thursday’s Lady Bulldog Invitational at Hampton-Dumont-CAL. The Wolverines scored 59 points in a meet they recently added to their schedule due to the cancellation of previous meets.
Top three placewinners include: Macie Graves – 2nd in 100-meter dash and 3rd in 200-meter dash, Izzy Houts – 3rd in 1500-meter run, 4×100-meter relay – 3rd, 4×400-meter relay – 3rd, 4×800-meter relay – 1st. The Wolverines will be at the Hudson Girls Relays on Tuesday.
The girls tennis team began its season with a 7-2 win at Charles City. The 1-0 Wolverines will host Independence Friday in a meet that was postponed from Monday.
The girls soccer team fell 2-1 at home to #9 (1A) Denver. Trailing 1-0 at halftime, the Wolverines tied the game in the second half on a goal by Ana Bering, assisted by Lucy Varney. But the Cyclones scored late to secure the win. The Wolverines are now 1-1 and will be at Waterloo Columbus Friday.
In other Friday action, the boys track & field team will compete at a meet at Waverly-Shell Rock at 4:30. The girls and boys golf teams will play at Oelwein at 4:15.
