The AP/DNH boys soccer team went 3-0 and placed first at a round robin tournament at Postville Saturday. The United defeated Clayton Ridge 9-2, Cascade 8-1 and Postville 3-2.

In the opener against Clayton Ridge, AP/DNH led 4-2 at halftime, and finished strong with five goals in the second half to leave no doubt. The United held a 2-1 lead in the first half against Cascade, but added three more before halftime and cruised to their second win of the day. Postville went up 2-0 in the first half, but a goal by Jackson Mulder with just over 12 minutes left in the first half cut the deficit in half. A tap-in by Gavin Bernard tied the game with 21:35 left in the second half, and Mulder scored the go-ahead goal with 8:40 to play in regulation. AP/DNH is 5-1 and will be at Northeast Iowa United Monday at 5:30 p.m.

The Falcon girls soccer team will host Dike-New Hartford Monday, a game that’ll air on 99 The Wave. The Falcons are 3-1, having earned consecutive shutout wins over Columbus Catholic and Wright County last week. The Wolverines are 1-1 and will look to bounce back from last week’s 2-1 loss to Denver. It’ll be Dike-New Hartford’s first away game of the season. The Wolverines have won all seven meetings in the series. The kickoff will be at 5:00 p.m.

The boys golf team will open their season at Denver with a North Iowa Cedar League dual. Head Coach Gary Flanigan looks forward to early season tests on other team’s home courses.

“The big thing is how well can we do on their home course,” Flanigan says. “That’s always kind of a challenge. You always say you have a home court advantage in basketball and football, but when it comes to golf, it’s a huge home court advantage. So if we can go to somebody else’s course and beat them, I don’t know if we really have a weak link in our conference this year. They’re all gonna be good. Every meet we have is really a big meet.”

The meet will start at 4:15 p.m. at Willow Run Country Club.

The Falcon tennis teams will look to notch their first dual wins of the season against Iowa Falls-Alden. The boys will play at Assembly Park in Iowa Falls and the girls will play at the Aplington Recreation Complex. Both meets will start at 4:30 p.m.
