The Grundy Center boys track & field team had several top placings at Tuesday’s meet at Jesup. First place finishes: 4×200-meter relay, 4×400-meter relay, 4×800-meter relay, shuttle hurdle relay. Second place finishes: Tate Jirovsky – 400-meter dash, Tyler Venenga – 800-meter run, sprint medley relay, Tiernan Vokes – 400-meter hurdles, Emerson Vokes – 3200-meter run, Kasey Seitz – shot put. Third place finishes: Tiernan Vokes – 110-meter hurdles, Judd Jirovsky – long jump. The Spartans will return to action Thursday at Hudson.
The girls track & field team tied for first place with Decorah by scoring 92 points at the Hudson Girls Relays. First place finishes: Ellery Luhring – 400-meter dash, 4×800-meter relay, Grace Storjohann, long jump. Second place finishes: Grace Storjohann – 800-meter run, 4×400-meter relay, distance medley relay, Carlie Willis – second in high jump. The Spartans will be at Aplington-Parkersburg Friday.
The girls golf team placed second at a home triangular by shooting a 186. Oelwein won with a 178 and AGWSR shot a 234. They’ll return to action Friday at BCLUW.
