Four Aplington-Parkersburg spring sports teams will be in action Thursday.
The girls track & field team will compete at the Lady Wolverine Invitational at Dike-New Hartford. The second meet of a three-meet week, it’ll be another opportunity for the shuttle hurdle relay team to qualify for the Drake Relays for the second consecutive season. Sophomore Ava Eddy on the relay’s potential to return.
“I think just having confidence that we can do it and it’ll happen,” Eddy says. “Definitely shuttle hurdles is practice and after you don’t do it for two seasons, it’s hard to get back into it since there’s so much into it.”
The relay’s best time is 1:09.33, shy of the Blue Standard of 1:07.00. The meet will begin at 4:45 p.m.
The boys track & field team will compete in its second of three meets this week when it travels to the Hudson Pirate Relays. The meet will include teams from all enrollment classes. It’ll begin at 4:30 p.m.
The girls tennis team will go for its first win of the season when it hosts Grundy Center. The team is 0-4, but junior Adria Neymeyer is undefeated at #1 singles. The Spartans are 0-2. The meet will begin at 4:30 p.m. at the Aplington Recreation Complex.
The boys golf team will play its home opener when it hosts a triangular with Oelwein and South Hardin. The Falcons won their first two meets of the week. The first tee times are at 4:15 p.m. at Legend Trail Golf Club.
