Five Dike-New Hartford spring sports teams will be in action Thursday.

The girls track & field team will host the Lady Wolverine Invitational. The meet will feature 13 other teams, including many others from the NICL. Action will begin at 4:45 p.m.

The boys track & field team will compete at the Hudson Pirate Relays, a meet that’ll feature diverse competition. The Wolverines have had several strong team placings, including a runner-up finish at Iowa Falls-Alden on Tuesday. Head Coach Will Reingardt says the team is bolstered by the sprint events.

“Cameron Decker is most definitely our leader in our workhorse of the sprint crew,” Reingardt says. “He’s really developed over the last couple of years and continues to get better with what he’s doing and has a really strong start to his senior campaign. So we’ll be leaning on him pretty heavily with the 100s, 200s, 4×1, sprint med, stuff like that. We’ll play around with 400 action with him too, every once in a while. And then Devon Lotts is also what I would call a utility runner, where he can do anything from the sprints to longer sort of things, but he’s been doing mostly 400s on down so far this year. Tyson Bennett and Jacob Birch have also filled in very nicely with some of our sprint events that we’re pursuing to get better in.”

The meet will begin at 4:30 p.m.

The girls soccer team will play its third game of the week by hosting #8 (1A) Hudson. The Wolverines are 4-1, coming off Tuesday’s 5-2 win over North Fayette Valley. Head Coach Emma Eden says veteran senior goalkeeper Miranda Tyler has been a key to the defense.

“We can always count on her, she finds them,” Eden says. “She’s able to not pinpoint accuracy, but she can pretty well get it to the left or right or middle wherever we need it. She’s able to understand the game, know the pace, where we need to put it, if she needs to send it out right away, delay it, but she’s always been a brick wall in the back, which is very fortunate for us.”

Hudson is 4-0. The game will start at 5:30 p.m.

The golf teams will play their home openers by hosting East Marshall and Jesup in a triangular at Fox Ridge Golf Course at 4:15 p.m.
