Drought Conditions Improve Slightly in Iowa

The latest U.S. Drought Monitor Report for Iowa shows more improvements in drought conditions in the state.

The coverage area for no drought conditions increased to 14.72 percent, up from 9.65 percent last week. No drought is listed in portions of northwest and southeast Iowa.

There was little change in drought conditions reported this week in the Radio on the Go broadcast area. Northeastern Franklin, eastern Cerro Gordo, all of Floyd and northern Butler County still remain in an extreme drought.

The rest of Franklin, most of Wright, eastern Hancock, western Cerro Gordo, the southern 2-3rds of Butler, all of Grundy and most of Hardin County are in a severe drought.

One year ago, nearly 38 percent of the state was drought free.
