The Aplington-Parkersburg girls tennis team earned a fifth place finish at Saturday’s Dennis Price Invitational at Spencer. After the long road trip, they’ll play the first of two meets this week by hosting Oelwein Monday at the Aplington Recreation Complex at 4:00 p.m. The boys tennis team will play at Oelwein at 4:00.

Both track & field teams will be in action, each with two scheduled meets before the cutoff for Drake Relays qualification. The boys will compete at Hampton-Dumont-CAL, fresh off a 100-meter dash program record by senior Kael Stotler Friday.

“After last year’s performance, I wasn’t happy with myself,” Stotler says. “I knew I had more to give. And especially since for football this year, I was injury prone again. So I just wanted something that I could excel at. And I was decently fast, and we were just able to pull it out tonight. We’ve been walking by that board every day for four years now. A long time. But yeah, never did I think I was going to break it. I’m extremely blessed, extremely happy with what I have right now.”

The girls will compete at Hudson. Both meets will start at 4:30.
