Aplington-Parkersburg Spring Sports Update – 4/16/24

The Aplington-Parkersburg girls track & field team placed third in a 19-team field at Monday’s Hudson Relays. The shuttle hurdle relay team of Kinsey Mohwinkle, Ava Eddy, Adri Allan and Olyvia Bellows made another step toward Drake Relays qualification, winning the race in 1:08.08. Head Coach Alex Pollock says the team has made steady progress.

The time is the 15th-best in Iowa, and the 16 best times qualify. Completing the race in 1:07.00 or faster guarantees qualification.
First place finishes: shuttle hurdle relay, Ava Eddy – 400-meter hurdles, Kinsey Mohwinkle – long jump. Second place finishes: 4×100-meter relay, 4×200-meter relay, Kinsey Mohwinkle – 100-meter hurdles. The Falcons will be at Roland-Story Thursday.

The boys track & field team placed sixth at the Bulldog Invitational at Hampton-Dumont-CAL. First place finishes: Kael Stotler – 200-meter dash and shot put, Trevan Thomas – 1600-meter run, distance medley relay. Second place finish: Gavin Thomas – 800-meter run. Third place finishes: sprint medley relay, 4×100-meter relay, 4×800-meter relay. The Falcons will be at BCLUW Thursday.

The tennis teams both swept Oelwein 9-0. The girls won on the road and the boys won at home. The boys meet was highlighted by 8-0 wins by Tate Neymeyer at #1 singles, Grant Wedeking at #2 singles, Gabe Jacobson at #5 singles, and Neymeyer/Keegan Bolhuis at #2 doubles. Tuesday’s boys meet at Waverly-Shell Rock was postponed to Saturday. The girls will return to action Monday at Union.

Tuesday’s boys golf meet at Waterloo Columbus was cancelled. They’ll be back in action Thursday at Union.
