Dike-New Hartford Spring Sports Update – 4/16/24

The Dike-New Hartford boys track & field team hosted the Wolverine Invitational and placed third with 108.5 points Monday. The meet was originally scheduled for Tuesday, but was moved due to the potential for severe weather. First place finishes: Cameron Decker – 200-meter dash, Jaiden Soppe – high jump, Dawson Dietrick – discus. Second place finishes: Cameron Decker – 100-meter dash, shuttle hurdle relay. Third place finish: Jack Hoehns – 110-meter hurdles. The Wolverines will return to action Thursday at Cedar Falls.

The girls track & field team placed fifth with 64 points at the Hudson Relays. The 4×100-meter relay team of Kailyn Meester, Shelby Ohrt, Chloe Paulsen and Macie Graves solidified their positioning in potential Drake Relays qualification by running a season-best 51.95. That mark is the 69th-best time in Iowa, well within the top 96 times that qualify.

First place finishes: 4×100-meter relay, Izzy Houts – 3000-meter run. Third place finishes: Macie Graves – 100-meter dash, Chloe Paulsen – 200-meter dash. The Wolverines will return to action Thursday at West Delaware.

The girls tennis team earned an 8-1 win at South Hardin, with the only loss happening at #6 singles. Of the Wolverine wins, only one gave up more than five wins in 10-game pro sets. The Wolverines are now 5-0 and will host Grundy Center Thursday.

Tuesday’s meets with AGWSR were rescheduled to Friday. The golf teams will return to action Thursday at Waterloo Columbus.
