AP’s Adria Neymeyer

The girls tennis team fell 7-2 at home to Decorah. Adria Neymeyer won 8-1 at #1 singles. Neymeyer/Peyton Klooster won 8-2 at #1 doubles. Head Coach Haley Schneiderman says there were several close matches against one of the best teams in Class 1A.

“We played really well tonight,” Schneiderman says. Julia and Jayden Krausman, five and six singles for us, they both lost 6-8, so that could have gone either way. Julia was down by a lot at first in her match and she ended up coming back losing 6-8, so I was pretty impressed with that. I mean, those two are really starting to pick it up and starting to keep the ball and play more, which is helping them out a lot. Adria and Peyton did really well in doubles. And Adria came out doing really well in singles too and ended up getting an 8-1 win over a girl who went to state last year too, so that was a really big one for her.”

AP is 3-6 and will host Charles City Thursday.

Interview with Schneiderman:

The boys tennis team won 9-0 at Webster City. In a fast-paced meet, the Falcons won 10-0 in six matches, and gave up no more than three games in any match. The Falcons are 4-4 and will host Union Monday.

The boys golf team won a triangular with 155 strokes at Dike-New Hartford, topping DNH’s 169 and South Hardin’s 182. Caleb Campbell scored a 38 to earn medalist honors, winning a tiebreaker over Benny Waller, who was the runner-up. The Falcons will host Hudson Thursday.

The #8 (2A) AP/DNH boys soccer team fell 4-1 at #8 (1A) Hudson. Preston Janssen scored in the first half, but the Pirates scored twice in each half. The United are 9-3 and will host #5 (1A) GC-GR Thursday.

The girls soccer team fell 4-1 at home to #7 (1A) Hudson. The Pirates scored twice within the game’s first two minutes, and Carley Hook answered to cut the deficit to 2-1. But Hudson scored twice more in the second half to seal the game. The Falcons are 5-6 and will be at GC-GR Thursday.
