Dike-New Hartford spring sports update – 4-24-24

The Dike-New Hartford girls track & field team placed third with 92 points at Tuesday’s Lady Simons Relays on their home track. First place: 4×100-meter relay, 4×200-meter relay, Izzy Houts – 1500-meter run. Second place: Shelby Ohrt – 200-meter dash, Izzy Houts – 800-meter run, distance medley relay. They’ll return to action Thursday at Grundy Center.

The DNH/AP girls golf team hosted a six-team tournament at Legend Trail Golf Club and placed 2nd with a 186, one stroke behind Grundy Center’s 185. Maryn Bixby shot a 43 to place third. They’ll host a quad meet Thursday.

The boys golf team placed second at a home triangular with a 169, behind Aplington-Parkersburg’s 155 and South Hardin’s 182. Carson Costello tied for third with a 39 to lead the way. The Wolverines will return to action Friday at Waterloo Columbus.

The girls tennis team fell 5-4 at Osage, the first loss of the season. With usual #1 singles player Aidalyn Tott out of the lineup, Izzy Norton won a 7-4 tiebreaker at #1 singles. Indee Grassley won 8-4 at #4 singles and Kiersten Christiansen won 8-3 at #6 singles. The only doubles win was the #2 team of Claire McCumber/Addy Joslin. The Wolverines are 6-1 and will host Union Friday.

The girls soccer team bounced back from consecutive losses with a 6-0 home win over Waterloo Columbus. The Wolverines set the tone with five goals in the first half. Payton Foster scored four goals, and Lucy Varney and Ana Bering each had one. The Wolverines are 6-4 and will be at Union Thursday.
