The Hampton-Dumont-CAL girls and boys track and field teams will have an opportunity to fine tune events ahead of conference meet at Don Hoppel Relays hosted by Garner-Hayfield-Ventura on Monday. For the Bulldog girls this will be their first meet since a 5th place finish at Wildcat Relays hosted by Humboldt on April 22. In first was Charlee Morton in the shot put and discus, Teaghan Bird in the 400m hurdles and the shuttle hurdle relay.
For the Bulldog boys this will be their first meet since winning Hawk Relays hosted by South Hamilton on April 18th. In first place was Scott Harr in the shot put and discus and Gage Plagge in the long jump.
Head Boys Coach Dan Aalbers says Garner is a good build up for conference and as championship season arrives, reminds athletes they can do it.
“We won’t run too heavy at Gardner, as it’s the tune up for the NCC meet, which happens on Thursday,” says Aalbers. “I just let them know that they can do it. We’ve run against good teams all year long, and they’ve shown they can compete.”
The meet begins at 4:30 p.m.
The HD-CAL girls and boys soccer teams will return to the field for split matches against Webster City on Monday. The 0-9 Bulldog girls following loss at Wright County on Thursday will be at 4-5 Webster City. The Lynx won the first meeting 8-0 on April 4th. The 5-3 Bulldog boys following 2-1 OT loss at Wright County on Thursday will host undefeated and #6(2A) Webster City. The Lynx won the first meeting 3-0 on April 4th. The girls match is at 4:30 p.m. and the boys get underway at 5:30 p.m.
The HD-CAL girls and boys tennis teams will make-up postponed meets from April 2nd with rival Iowa Falls-Alden on Monday. The 0-7 girls will be at Assembly Park. The 1-7 boys will host at Progress Park. Both meets begin at 4:30 p.m.
