Multiple home events highlight a busy Monday for the Cadets.

The Iowa Falls-Alden girls track and field will host Cadet Relays on Monday. This will be the Cadets first meet since placing 5th at Gilbert Relays on April 22. Top performers at the meet included Isabelle Janssen 1st in the 100m hurdles, Danika Rieks 2nd in the 3000m and Alivia Tupper was 3rd in the shot put. The meet begins at 5:00 p.m.

The IFA boys and girls tennis teams will make up postponed meets with Hampton-Dumont-CAL. The 2-4 Cadet boys look to build on a 5-4 win over Clear Lake on April 23 at Progress Park. The 6-2 Cadet girls look to bounce back from 6-3 loss to St.Edmond on Thursday as they host the Bulldogs at Assembly Park.

Head Girls Tennis Coach Matt Mulford says varsity players have created a positive environment for team development.

“It’s really good leadership on their part to guide the younger and less experienced players, that came out for tennis for the first time, so they just don’t have that experience,” says Mulford. “The varsity team is building their confidence and encouraging them. I really have enjoyed watching them support each other during the meets. They’re watching the matches and yelling good job when they see good shots. It’s fun to watch them come together like that.”

Both meets begin at 4:30 p.m.

The IFA girls and boys soccer teams will be in reach of a season series sweep as they host Clear Lake for a doubleheader on Monday. The #12(2A) Cadet girls enter at 8-1 and have received extra insurance from goalkeeper Abigail Janssen with only six goals allowed and 47 saves. The 2-8 Cadet boys are led by Nico Ceron with eight goals. Action begins at 5:30 p.m. with the girls match at Cadet Field.

The IFA boys golf team will host a North Central Conference triangular against Algona and Webster City on Monday. The Cadets have placed second in two of their last three triangulars. Tee off is at 4:30 p.m. at Highland Golf Club.
