Storm surveys continue by the NWS in Iowa

Storm survey teams from the National Weather Service continue their work after Friday’s severe storms and tornadoes struck central and western Iowa back into Nebraska.

Based on information gathered so far, at least 17 tornadoes hit Iowa Friday.

Of those receiving ratings, 6 were EF-2’s, 2 were EF-1’s, and 1 was an EF-0.

One of the strongest tornadoes was reported in Clark County in the Osceola area with top winds up to 135 miles per hour.

Nationally, the Storm Prediction Center received a total of 128 reports of tornadoes in the U-S on Friday and Saturday.
