The Aplington-Parkersburg boys tennis team earned a 9-0 home sweep of Union Monday. Tate Neymeyer won 8-0 at #1 singles. Five positions finished with 8-1 scores, and the Falcons gave up no more than three games in any match. AP is now 5-4 and will compete at the NICL Tournament Tuesday.
In their final home meet of the season, the girls track & field team placed fifth with 80 points at the Lady Falcon Relays. First place: shuttle hurdle relay, 4×400-meter relay, Kinsey Mohwinkle – long jump. Second place: Ava Eddy – 100-meter hurdles. Third place: 4×800-meter relay, 4×200-meter relay, Ava Eddy – 400-meter hurdles. The Falcons will return to action at Thursday’s conference meet at Grundy Center.
The boys track & field team placed fourth with 95 points at the Denver Coed Relays. First place: Kael Stotler – 100-meter dash and shot put, 4×400-meter relay. Third place: Sprint medley relay, distance medley relay, Nick Neuroth – 400-meter hurdles. They’ll return to action at Thursday’s conference meet.
The boys golf team won a quad at Oakleaf Country Club in Reinbeck with 163 strokes. Waterloo Columbus shot 173, Gladbrook-Reinbeck 183 and Wapsie Valley 187. Benny Waller was the medalist with a 39 and Caleb Campbell was the runner-up with a 40. The Falcons will return to action at Thursday’s conference meet at Pheasant Ridge Golf Course in Cedar Falls.
The girls soccer team lost 1-0 at Dike-New Hartford. The Wolverines scored on a Drew Petersen goal late in the first half, which was ultimately the winning goal. The Falcons are 5-8 and will host #12 (2A) Iowa Falls-Alden Thursday.
The #8 (2A) AP/DNH boys beat Northeast Iowa United 10-0. AP/DNH led 8-0 at halftime, and scored the winning goal with 23:56 left in the second half to end it early. Dax Weedman and Levi Folkerts each scored twice. Walker Weedman, Ty Luhring, Cooper Mulder, Aiden Merrill, Blane Schmitt and Cane McCumber each scored once. AP/DNH is now 11-3 and will host New Hampton Friday.
