The Hampton-Dumont-CAL girls and boys track and field teams competed at the Don Hoppel Relays hosted by Garner-Hayfield-Ventura on Monday. The Bulldog girls placed 6th with 55 points. Top performers included Charlee Morton 1st in the shot put and discus, the 1600 medley in 2nd, Teaghan Bird 3rd in 400m hurdles, Lydia Maas 3rd in the 3000m, and Maren Subbert 3rd in the discus.
The Bulldog boys took fifth place with 71 points. In first place was Scott Harr in the shot put, Gage Plagge in the long jump and the 4x200m relay. In second was Scott Harr in the discus and the 4x100m relay. In third was Colin Bird in the 400m hurdles and the shuttle hurdle relay.
Both teams will compete in separate North Central Conference meets on Thursday, with the boys at Clarion and the girls will host.
The HD-CAL girls and boys tennis teams were swept by rival Iowa Falls-Alden in split meets on Monday. The Bulldog girls fell 9-0 at Assembly Park in Iowa Falls to move to 0-8. The Bulldog boys lost 9-0 on home courts at Progress Park to move to 1-8. Both teams return to action Wednesday at North Central Conference tournaments, the boys will be at Clear Lake and the girls at Fort Dodge.
The HD-CAL girls and boys soccer teams lost a pair of tough matches against Webster City on Monday. The Bulldog girls lost 7-0 at Webster City. The Bulldog boys lost 3-1 at home to #4(2A) Webster City, junior Fernando Mota found the net in the second half for the Bulldogs goal. Both teams will be at Humboldt on Thursday.
