Iowa Falls-Alden Spring Sports Update – 4/30/24

The Iowa Falls-Alden girls track and field placed 3rd with 119 points at Cadet Relays on Monday. Front runners included Isabelle Janssen in the 100m hurdles, Danika Rieks in the 3000m and the shuttle hurdle relay. In second was Caitlyn Archer in the high jump, Isabelle Janssen in the 400m hurdles and Danika Rieks in the 800m. In third place was Lydia Nachazel in the 1500m, Alivia Tupper in the shot put and the 4x400m relay. Up next for the Cadets is the North Central Conference meet at HD-CAL on Thursday.

The IFA boys and girls tennis teams brought home great meet wins against the Bulldogs on Monday. The Cadet girls won 9-0 at Assembly Park in Iowa Falls to move to 7-2. The Cadet boys won 9-0 at Progress Park to move to 3-4.

Head Boys Tennis Coach Ann Plagge says the meet against the Bulldogs provided competitive matches to help prepare for conference.

“I was really pleased to see some great doubles matches to head into our conference tournament, some good wins for us,” says Plagge. “We had some that were really close so our guys got to really battle, which is great at this point in the season to see close scores and see what we can do on the court.”

Both teams return to action Wednesday at North Central Conference tournaments, the boys will be at Clear Lake and the girls at Fort Dodge.

The IFA girls and boys soccer teams split their home doubleheader against Clear Lake on Monday. The #12(2A) Cadet girls won in thrilling fashion 2-1 in sudden victory 2 and to rise to 9-1. The Cadet boys fell 7-2 to the Lions and moved to 2-9. The girls return to the field Thursday at Aplington-Parkersburg.

The IFA boys golf team placed 2nd with a 168 at home triangular against Algona and Webster City on Monday. Kale Kalous was medalist for the Cadets with 39. The Cadets will be at Lynx Golf Invite hosted by Webster City on Thursday.
