This week the Franklin County Board of Supervisors held a special meeting and a joint session with the Franklin County Board of Health and the Franklin General Hospital Board of Trustees.

Supervisor chairman Chris Vanness began the meeting by proposing the idea of an agreement in which Franklin General Hospital would begin overseeing the public health and home care sectors, which also fall under the county board of health.

Discussion focused on how the structure would look involving both the board of health and the hospital, and a concern was raised for the clients that both agencies service and how this would affect them.

In addition, would public health and home care employees be required to also work the floor or other departments within the hospital.

The Franklin County Board of Supervisors will continue to discuss this at future meetings as well as looking for input from employees, board members, and the community.
