The Aplington-Parkersburg girls soccer team will close its regular season by hosting Union Monday.

At 7-8 and 3-8 in conference play, the Falcons have answered a four-game losing streak by winning two straight. The skid was snapped with a 2-1 overtime upset at #12 (2A) Iowa Falls-Alden on Thursday, May 2, and the offense came to life in Friday’s 6-2 home win over North Fayette Valley. Head Coach Cory Goetsch hopes his team can close the regular season with momentum.

“I think our big goal is just to finish strong against Union,” Goetsch says. “They’re a good team. We went to OT with them before. And just being able to go out there and compete against Union, making sure that we don’t give up a game against a team that I think we can beat, and just going out there and competing hard.”

Senior Carley Hook had three goals against North Fayette Valley. Freshman Kiara Morris leads with 11 goals.

Union is 6-10 and 3-8 in conference play. The Falcons won 1-0 in overtime when the teams met earlier this season. The game will start at 5:00 p.m.
