Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds recently sent a request to President Biden for him to issue a major disaster declaration to help 9 counties impacted by the severe storms and tornadoes from April 26th.
The 9 counties are Clarke, Crawford, Harrison, Mills, Polk, Pottawattamie, Ringgold, Shelby, and Union.
At least 24 tornadoes hit Iowa that day with 4 of them being ranked as EF-3’s, 7 were ranked as EF-2’s, and 7 were rated as EF-1’s.
78 units of housing were destroyed on that day, the most in the City of Minden, where 48 were destroyed.
One person died from injuries sustained during the storms.
