Aplington-Parkersburg Head Coach Gary Flanigan on what his team will face in sectional play.
“One team that sticks out is Osage they’re in the top three,” Flanigan says. “They’ll be good. I think we have a shot if we play good golf. If we play average golf, I think we can move on from sectionals. But it’s golf. Any given day, you know, you look at the PGA, some guy wins the tournament, and the next week, he doesn’t make the cut. Golf is kind of funny. Just because you’re good, that doesn’t mean that’s always going to show up. We’ve got to have our A game. Waterloo Columbus, Hudson, Oelwein, Monticello, there’s a lot of good teams there. You have to play good golf this time of year. You earn everything you get, and that’s the way it should be.”
The top two teams from each sectional, and the third place team if the host school places first or second, will advance to district play. The top two individuals, plus ties, from non-qualifying teams will also advance.
Action will begin at 10:00 a.m.
