Local girls tennis teams competed in the first day of team regional postseason action Friday.
In 1A Region 4, Dike-New Hartford had a dominant outing in Clear Lake with 5-0 wins over Oelwein and Osage. The Wolverines will play at Decorah in a regional final Tuesday.
In 1A Region 1, several local teams competed at Byrnes Park in Waterloo. In the first round, Aplington-Parkersburg earned a 5-0 win over Hampton-Dumont-CAL. The Falcons fell in the second round with a close 5-3 decision against Waverly-Shell Rock.
Iowa Falls-Alden began the day with a 5-0 win over Grundy Center, and South Hardin defeated Independence 5-1. Those winners received byes to the regional semifinal, where the Tigers beat the Cadets 5-3. South Hardin will play in a regional final against the winner of Waverly-Shell Rock at Waterloo Columbus on Tuesday.
