Three local girls golf teams advance to regional finals

Girls golf regional first round meets in Classes 1A and 2A were held Friday, and three local teams advanced to the regional finals.

In 1A Region 3B at West Fork, North Butler shot a 411 to place second. Reagan Mulder led the Bearcats by placing second with an 87. They’ll advance to the Region 3 final at Nashua-Plainfield.

In 2A Region 2B at Roland-Story, Iowa Falls-Alden placed third with a 434. Because the host placed first, the third place team advanced. Olivia French led the Cadets with a 91 to tie for fourth place. They’ll compete at the Region 2 final at Kuemper Catholic.

In 2A Region 4B at South Hardin, Grundy Center placed second with a 402. Holly Lubbert led the Spartans with a 98 to place fifth. Individually, Bella Keaveny and Emma Top of South Hardin shot a 91 and 92 to place second and third to advance. They’ll compete at the Region 4 final at Grundy Center. South Hardin placed third as a team with a 416.

The regional finals will be Wednesday, May 15.

In 1A Region 3A at St. Edmond, Belmond-Klemme placed fourth with a 446 and AGWSR placed sixth with a 471.

West Fork placed fourth with a 454 in Region 3B.

In 2A Region 1B at Clarion-Goldfield-Dows, the hosts placed sixth with a 506.
