Boys State Golf Championships beginning Monday

The IHSAA Boys Spring Golf State Championship meets will begin Monday.

In Class 2A, Grundy Center will look to defend last year’s team championship, and sophomore Judd Jirovsky has a chance to defend his individual title. The Spartans tied for the title with a 315 at last week’s district meet in Iowa City.

Individually, Aplington-Parkersburg junior Caleb Campbell will compete at the state meet for the first time in his career. He shot a 75 at last week’s district meet in Dike to qualify.

In Class 1A, North Butler junior Nolan Reser will compete at the state meet for the third time. He qualified individually by winning the district meet in Mason City with a 79. Reser tied for fifth place last season.

The 1A meet will be at Ames Golf & Country Club and the 2A meet will be at Coldwater Golf Links in Ames. The two-day, 36-hole tournaments will begin Monday at 10:30 a.m. The second round will begin Tuesday at 9:00 a.m.
