The Iowa Falls-Alden boys soccer team will travel to the state capital for a tough test against #2(3A) Des Moines Hoover in a 3A Substate 7 semifinal on Monday. The Cadets advanced to semifinal with a 4-2 home win over Fort Dodge on Tuesday, May 14th. Senior Nico Ceron led with two goals in the win over the Dodgers.
Head Coach Greg Lascheid says control, possession and defense will be important against the Huskies.
“I think what we’re going to work on is just relaxing, possessing the ball, kind of do a keep away strategy,” says Lascheid. “I don’t think we’re going to try to run it to Des Moines Hoover real hard because I think that’ll end up with good counter opportunities that I don’t really want to see. We’re just going to take it easy this week. We’re going to work on control, possession, defense and then strap on for Monday.”
This will be the first ever meeting between the programs. The match begins at 5:30 p.m. at Mediacom Stadium in Des Moines.
The IFA softball and baseball teams will look to begin fresh starts following a challenging 2023 as they take the field for season openers against South Hardin on Monday. First pitch for both games is at 7:00 p.m. in Eldora.
