Crop planting and emergence still behind in Iowa

The latest Iowa Crop Report from the USDA shows that as of Sunday, 78 percent of Iowa’s expected corn crop had been planted, 8 days behind last year and 4 days behind the 5-year average.

47 percent of the corn crop had emerged, 2 days behind last year, but equal to normal.

61 percent of Iowa’s expected soybean crop had been planted, a week behind last year and 2 days behind the normal.

Nearly one quarter of the soybean crop had emerged, 3 days behind last year, but equal to the average.
