About 1:50am today a thunderstorm caused wind damage to power poles and the distribution lines along 170th Street between Highway 65 and Olive Avenue north of Hampton.

MidAmerican Energy crews have been on the scene since that time restoring power, after up to 14-hundred customers were without service. Almost all of the power has now been restored.

170th Street between Highway 65 and Olive Avenue is closed to traffic, and no estimate on how long it will take crews to make more permanent repairs, especially to the power poles.
