The Iowa Falls-Alden girls soccer team took care of business especially at the defensive end Wednesday night for a 4-0 victory over Central Iowa United in a Class 2A Region 1 semifinal.
Joshua Hamlyn reports:
IFA improves to 12-6 overall and advances to regional final to face #3(2A) Waverly-Shell Rock. The Go-Hawks won earlier meeting this season 4-0 on April 8th.
Head Coach Morgan Vierkandt says they have experience playing in back to back games and enter with the right mindset against the Go-Hawks.
“Fortunately, it’s not something that’s new to us, during the season, we’ll have a couple back to backs, but we don’t like to do it in a playoff game,” says Vierkandt. “It’s a team that we had played earlier in the season, so we have a grasp on what they want to do. We have our idea that everybody has a mindset on how we need to win the game, that’s basically what we’re going to do. We’re going to go in there and play our game, force them to play the game the way we want to play. That’s how we’re going to get the win.”
The game will air on 104.9 KLMJ with pregame at 6:50 p.m. and kickoff at 7:00 p.m. at the former Wartburg Lacrosse Field.
