Several local student-athletes will compete at the Class 1A Girls State Singles & Doubles Tennis Tournament in Iowa City.
In singles, Peyton Klooster of Aplington-Parkersburg will have a first round match against Kaitlyn Zugay of Ballard. Teammate Adria Neymayer will take on Ishita Mukadam of Maharishi. Dike-New Hartford’s Claire McCumber will face #4-seed Jana Isanta of Mount Pleasant.
In doubles, #3-seed Aida Tott/Izzy Norton of Dike-New Hartford will face Jocelyn Hobbs/Ellie Volkmann of Ballard in the first round. Peyton Benson/Abby Teske of South Hardin will begin their tournament against #4-seed Jersie Nitchals/Kennedy Paul of Estherville Lincoln Central.
The double elimination tournaments will be at the University of Iowa Tennis Center. Friday’s action will begin at 10:00
a.m. and Saturday’s first matches will begin at 9:30 a.m.
