Central College senior and Aplington-Parkersburg alum Megan Johnson ran the seventh-fastest time in NCAA Division III history to claim the 3,000-meter steeplechase national championship. Johnson completed the race in 10:13.46 at the national outdoor championship meet in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina Friday.
Johnson became the first female individual champion at the school since 2007.
Johnson will next compete in the 5,000-meter run Saturday at 6:00 p.m. Central Time. That’ll be her last race at Central before she transfers to Oklahoma next season.
