The AGWSR softball team earned its first win of the season, holding off Hampton-Dumont-CAL 11-7 on the road Tuesday.
The Cougars started hot, building what proved to be an insurmountable lead by scoring eight runs in the top of the first inning. The Bulldog offense responded with one run in the fourth, two in the fifth and four in the sixth. AGWSR added three in the top of the sixth, which provided the needed cushion before the bottom of the inning. AGWSR is now 1-4 and will be at Columbus Catholic Wednesday at 7:00 p.m.
The AGWSR baseball team will return to action for the first time this week when they travel to Columbus. At 1-4, they’re coming off a 6-1 loss to Union Friday. Kaden Abbas has had a strong season at the plate with a .556 average, and Landon Benning has batted an even .500 so far. The Sailors are coming off a split at Aplington-Parkersburg Tuesday. The game will start at 5:00 p.m.
