The Iowa Natural Heritage Foundation and its partners need to raise 2-point-7-million dollars in donations and pledges by June 17th to qualify for a federal Active Transportation Infrastructure Investment Program, or ATIIP grant, to help complete the Iowa River’s Edge Trail.
The grant would provide 12-million dollars to complete construction of the trail.
The trail will eventually cover 34 miles and run between Steamboat Rock and Marshalltown.
