The Clarion-Goldfield-Dows baseball and softball team will host Belmond-Klemme for a Wright County battle at the ballpark on Tuesday.

The 3-5 CGD baseball team enters off a hot night at the plate with a 10-5 win at Clear Lake on Monday.  Senior Carson Nesheim has been an outstanding player for the Cowboys, leading the team in hits(7), RBI(6), ERA(3.86) and strikeouts thrown(35) entering June.

CGD Head Coach Ryan Nail says Nesheim has stepped up in a big way and the team looks to improve in run production and limiting errors.

“Carson pitched well and is good enough to carry us in games,” says Nesheim. “We just need to make sure that offensively we back him with some runs and defensively make sure that we clean up a few errors. We’ll jump into the long season that is coming up and we’re going to try our best to put our team in the best position to win.”

The BK baseball team is on the hunt for its first win. The Broncos in their last game fell 10-0 to Forest City on Monday. Sophomore Braden Dougherty leads the offense with four RBI. Pitching in relief, senior Ashtin Willms has a 4.67 ERA and five strikeouts in three innings.

First pitch is at 4:00 p.m.

The 0-6 CGD softball team fell 12-0 to Clear Lake on Monday. The Cowgirls have been challenged in the batter’s box with one run scored in their last four games. Sophomore Tess Wibholm in the circle led the team with 17 strikeouts entering June.

The 4-5 BK softball team was kept off the scoreboard in an 8-0 loss to Forest City on Monday. Sophomore Kaylen Morris has overflown the strike zone with 89 strikeouts and a 2.24 ERA in their first nine games. Freshman Nevi McMurry has driven in 8 runs at the plate for the Broncos.

First pitch is at 4:00 p.m.
