HD-CAL Summer Sports Dodge Storms, Return to Field Wednesday

The Hampton-Dumont-CAL softball and baseball teams were kept off the field against Osage on Tuesday due to the weather and will return to North Central Conference action at St.Edmond on Wednesday.

The 2-3 HD-CAL softball team will be faced with a tough assignment in facing the 5-0 and #6(1A) Gaels on Wednesday night. The Bulldogs in their last game fell 14-1 in five innings to Iowa Falls-Alden on Monday. Aspen Harlan leads the Bulldogs in the circle with a 1.17 ERA and 18 strikeouts. Charlee Morton has led the bats plating eight runs. The Gaels along with averaging 11 runs per game are powered by ace pitcher Kaili Henning with 47 strikeouts.

The 2-9 HD-CAL baseball team will look to get the bats going against the 4-2 Gaels. The Bulldogs were kept off the scoreboard in 6-0 shutout loss to Iowa Falls-Alden on Monday. Brody Walton has provided a boost in the leadoff spot with a team leading 14 hits, .400 batting average and 11 stolen bases. Carson Helmke has helped with relief on the mound with four strikeouts in 2 ⅔ innings. 

First pitch for both games is at 7:30 p.m. in Fort Dodge.
