DNH earns two shutouts at Denver Thursday

The Dike-New Hartford baseball and softball teams both shut out Denver on the road Thursday in NICL-Central action. The baseball team won 11-0 in five innings and the softball team won 10-0 in six innings.

In the baseball game, Carson Costello pitched the complete game and earned a one-hit shutout with two walks and nine strikeouts. Costello, Ryan Gudgeon, Keegan Bolhuis and Gavin Gerbracht each had two hits. Bolhuis, Cole McCumber and Conner Dancer each had two RBIs. DNH (7-2, 4-1 NICL-C) will next compete at a tournament at Waterloo East Saturday.

In the softball game, the Wolverines scored once each in the first, second and fifth innings. They scored twice each in the third and fourth, and finished strong with three runs in the sixth inning. Macy Mracek and Aubrey Mracek each had two hits. Macy Mracek had three RBIs and Madde Buskohl drove in two runs. Faith Gray pitched the complete game with one hit allowed, no walks and four strikeouts. DNH (8-3, 4-1 NICL-C) will be at a tournament at Jesup Friday and Saturday.
