Monday night, the Hampton-Dumont-CAL softball team was kept off the scoreboard by #14(4A) Webster City, and the Lynx pulled away with six runs in the 6th inning for a 10-0 win, as aired on 104.9 KLMJ. The baseball team fell 11-0 in five innings.

Bulldog Head Coach Kelsey Enslin says learning how to retake control and develop from tough innings remains ongoing.

“We played a really good first five innings and then it kind of fell apart a little bit,” says Enslin. “With the girls, I said, you feel that panic that set in, things got chaotic. So retaking control of those situations, absorb all that information, absorb the experiences, understand, how do we stop this. To all of them, what does that situation feel like? What could we have done differently? What could I have done differently? Just looking back and learning from what happened.”

The Bulldogs had one hit in the game, by eighth grader Keely Moorehead. Junior Malie Ott had four strikeouts in the circle and held the Lynx to four runs in the first five innings, before the Lynx bats got on a roll in the 6th. Hampton-Dumont-CAL (2-7, 1-5 NCC) will host Janesville Tuesday.

In the baseball game, Webster City scored twice in the first and third innings, and opened the game up with six in the fourth. The Bulldogs were unable to add runs to extend the game past five innings. The Bulldogs got one hit apiece by Jaxon Moats, Brody Peters and Brody Robertson. Moats pitched the complete game with one strikeout, one walk and 11 hits. Hampton-Dumont-CAL (3-12, 1-5 NCC) will host Janesville Tuesday.
