The North Butler softball and baseball teams will close out their regular season series at Newman Catholic and look for a pair of marquee conference upsets on Wednesday.
The 3-10 North Butler softball team after a rocky start to the year has been on a positive trend winning three of their last four games. The Bearcats in their last outing were plagued by errors and fell 9-2 to BCLUW on Tuesday. Freshman Kamri Groen had a complete game in the circle with one earned run allowed and nine strikeouts in seven innings against the Comets. Newman Catholic at 13-1 won the earlier season meeting 6-2 on May 22nd.
First pitch is at 6:00 p.m.
The 3-8 North Butler baseball team enters off a 10-0 win in five innings over Northwood-Kensett on Monday. Sophomore Brody Wangsness was in rhythm on the mound pitching the shutout with 11 strikeouts and added three RBI’s at the plate. Senior Carson Lewis has also provided a boost at the plate with 10 hits and six RBIs this season. #5(1A) Newman Catholic at 16-3 overall is the only undefeated Top of Iowa East team remaining at 10-0 in the conference.
