The Clarion-Goldfield-Dows baseball team took the opportunity last week to bring cancer awareness through their annual Strikeout Cancer Event in a game against Lake Mills on Thursday.
Cowboys Head Coach Ryan Nail says the team wore special uniforms to help bring awareness and it was great that both teams were able to come together for the cause.
“It’s a light blue jersey in honor of prostate cancer and that kind of coincides with Father’s Day,” says Nail. “We had great sponsors for the game that allowed every player for both teams, both us and Lake Mills to have a event t-shirt. We got a good picture before the game of both teams coming together for a cause. This is the second year that we’ve worn the light blue jerseys and we’re able to come together. It really turns into a great event.”
Nail says great support turned out for a fun night and father’s and son’s were given an opportunity to play catch.
“The weather was great, and it was a great turnout for our strikeout cancer event benefiting the American Cancer Society. It’s a fun night. Also for Father’s day, we were able to have kids out on the field playing catch with their dad in between the games.”
CGD (6-10 overall 1-6 in North Central Conference) will host Hampton-Dumont-CAL on Monday.
