Hampton-Dumont-CAL youth football is currently raising money to help outfit the team with custom jerseys, coaches polo shirts, essential equipment and supplement registration costs for players.
HD-CAL Youth Coordinator Todd Miller says having personalized youth jerseys will be a first for the program and gives players something linked to them.
“Grades three, four, five and six, their own personalized jersey, they get to choose their own number and be proud of the name that’s on their back, take some ownership of their name and the responsibilities that that takes,” says Miller. “That’s never been done before in Hampton’s youth football history. Historically, the kid has the option or the family has the option to buy after their sixth school year, but that jersey has no really ties to them. We’re making it special for each kid this year and that’s why we’re doing a big donation effort.”
Miller highlighted the support of the program and participation numbers.
“Last year when we moved here, we never had a third and fourth grade program, and we had 17 kids sign up. This year, our third and fourth graders, full tackle football, has got 21 kids signed up. Thank you parents for stepping up and thank you kids. The fifth and sixth grade program as of right now have 22 kids signed up, which is a good number. We’ve got really good support. I’m very happy with what’s going on.”
The Top 4 donations will have their company’s logo featured on the shoulder pads of the players’ jersey’s. Donations of $200 or more will receive a personalized banner that will be displayed at Bulldog home games.
Donations can be made to the Hampton Dumont Youth Football account at First Bank Hampton and United Bank and Trust Company in Hampton. Donations can be made up to their season opener.
