The Hampton-Dumont-CAL softball and baseball teams will venture west in search of season series wins over Clarion-Goldfield-Dows on Monday. Bulldog softball won 9-0 and baseball won 8-4 in series openers on May 29th.
The 4-9 HD-CAL softball team enters off a pair of tough five inning losses to #12(3A)West Marshall and Marshalltown at Rose Festival Tournament hosted by West Marshall on Saturday. Senior Aspen Harlan has made the most of her time in the circle with a 2.77 ERA and 33 strikeouts and has added 10 RBI at the plate.
The 0-13 CGD softball team returns to field for first time since five inning loss to Iowa Falls-Alden on Wednesday. Sophomore Tess Wibholm has shouldered a majority of the innings in circle for the Cowgirls with 49 strikeouts and a 7.28 ERA in 42 ⅓ innings.
The 6-10 CGD baseball team in last outing lost 10-8 to Lake Mills in eight innings on Thursday. Senior Carson Nesheim leads in the batter’s box with a .359 avg. 14 hits and 13 RBI. Mason Allen, Nick Sisson and Landen Kakachek have driven in nine runs apiece.
The 4-13 HD-CAL baseball team in last game fell 7-3 to Humboldt on Wednesday. Senior Brody Walton has a .377 avg. 20 hits, seven RBI and is a conference leader in stolen bases with 14. Freshman Carson Helmke has stepped in relief on the mound with a 1.50 ERA and seven strikeouts in 4 2/3 innings.
Both games begin at 7:30 in Clarion.
