Butler County Conservation is ramping up its summer schedule with the season in full stride. Naturalist intern Leah Cherry invites attendees of the Butler County Fair to stop by the Conservation booth to learn more about the organization.

“We’ll have some of our animals there, we’ll have some homemade ice cream and we’ll have some Dutch oven cooking demonstrations with free samples,” Cherry says. “Also, people are always welcome to come explore the trails at Heery Woods, and can stop by our nature center on weekdays between 7:00 and 3:30 to view our animals and talk to Annette and I. But we do recommend people call ahead since this is a busy time of year and we are occasionally out of the office. If you wanted to check if you’re in office, that number would be 319-346-6551.”

The Conservation Board has its display in the historic log cabin on the north side of the fairgrounds. The Butler County Fair runs Wednesday through Sunday.
