DNH goes 4-0 against Denver Monday

The Dike-New Hartford summer sports teams both swept Denver at home in NICL-Central doubleheaders Monday. The baseball team won 9-1 and 6-5. The softball team won 4-0 and 5-2.

In the second baseball game, the Wolverines trailed 5-0 in the bottom of the sixth. But Lewis Textor hit a two-run home run to right field, cutting the deficit to three. In the seventh, a solo home run by Micah Walston cut the deficit to two, and a sacrifice fly by Ryan Gudgeon cut it to one. In the final at-bat of the game, Textor reached on an error that allowed two runs to score, and the Wolverines earned the walkoff win.

In the first baseball game, the Wolverines bounced back from a 1-0 deficit to score twice in the second, three in the fifth and four in the sixth to run away with the win. DNH (11-5, 7-2 NICL-C) will be at #8 (2A) Sumner-Fredericksburg Tuesday at 5:30 p.m.

In the first softball game, the Wolverines pulled away with three runs in the fifth inning while holding the Cyclones off the board. They scored twice each in the first and third in the second game, and held a Denver rally short in the final two innings. DNH (12-7, 7-3 NICL-C) will be at #8 (3A) Sumner-Fredericksburg Tuesday at 5:30.
