Monday the Franklin County Board of Supervisors received an update from the county auditor on Iowa Senate File 2442 which was signed into law by the governor.

The new law dissolves all county compensation boards and gives each county board of supervisors the ability to establish a county compensation board after July 1st.

If the supervisors establish a compensation board, the county compensation board shall provide documentation to the board of supervisors that demonstrates how the county compensation board determined the recommended compensation schedule, including by providing the applicable compensation information for comparable officers in other counties of this state, other states, private enterprise, and the federal government.

The new law also provides the county board of supervisors the ability to raise or lower each recommended amount for each individual elected official.
