The AGWSR baseball and softball teams were swept at home by Oelwein Tuesday. The softball team fell 9-6 and the baseball team fell 9-4.
In the softball game, the Huskies took control with three runs in the first inning, but the teams traded runs throughout. Eventually, the Cougars tied the game at 6-6 after the fourth inning. But Oelwein scored once in the fifth and twice in the sixth to win it. Ella Diemer and Quinn Holmgaard each drove in two runs. Brylea Metzgar pitched the complete game with four strikeouts, nine walks and 10 hits. AGWSR (2-18, 0-8 NICL-W) will return to action at a tournament at Roland-Story Friday.
In the baseball game, the Cougars were unable to match the offensive output of Oelwein and lost their fifth straight game. AGWSR (4-14, 2-7 NICL-W) will be at Gladbrook-Reinbeck Thursday.
